Dr. Vartanian is Editor-in-Chief of WeighLossCompare and the final authority on the audit’s published scores. Within the inter-rater protocol, Dr. Vartanian functions as the adjudicator: when Dr. M. and Dr. Thrush’s independent scores diverge by more than four points on any single criterion, Dr. Vartanian reviews both scorers’ written rationales and issues a binding final score with a published rationale appended to the audited site’s individual review page.
Dr. Vartanian additionally maintains the public corrections log, signs off on every quarterly re-audit, and is the named editorial respondent for all challenges to scoring decisions submitted by audited sites or by the public. Editorial board hiring and the structural independence of the publication are Dr. Vartanian’s ongoing responsibility.
